Jejunal Inflammatory fibroid polyp presenting as Intussusception

Abstract

|
Inflammatory fibroid polyp is an unusual localized lesion originating in the submucosa of the gastrointestinal tract. It is seen moslty in the stomach and rarely along the small bowel and colon. The presenting symptoms might be variable depending
on the
location and gross appearance of the lesion. Vague abdominal pain or vomiting were the main symptoms in some patients with inflammatory fiborid polyps in stomach. The intestinal obstructive symptoms were frequent initial symptoms in those with
inflammatory fibroid polyps in small intestine and intestinal bleeding. anemia, alteration of bowel habite were occastionally noted. The treatment of inflammatory fibroid polyps is resection. We report a case of a 52-year-old waman presenting
with
small
bowel obstruction due to intussusception with an inflammatory fibroid polyp.
